Project Description

Caring for my mum

Being a young carer means

I get to spend time with my mum

I help her when things are difficult

Its not all humdrum

We have fun and we laugh

especially when its time for her to bath

The water gets everywhere but we don’t care

because to do this alone

She doesn’t dare

When Mum is sad I try

to make things right

We sometimes talk right into the night

I help around the house doing chores

I am aware my friends all know the score

The support we get from

family and friends means

so much. I hope it

never ends

‘Young Carers’ helps me to be me

for just a little while

With them I can always

smile

If caring for mum is my life

to be the best I will

always strive

Know that she loves me

for what I do and I know

that I will always love

her too
